You will be walking on uneven terrain so sturdy, preferably waterproof footwear is advised, whatever the time of year that you visit. Strictly no sandals, flip flops etc.

The walk is taken at a very steady pace, but due to it being over uneven ground it is not suitable for wheelchair users, pushchairs or anyone with mobility difficulties.

Alpaca trekking is suitable for anyone age 9+. Children will only be able to lead an alpaca if accompanied by a responsible adult.

With our wonderfully varied British weather we can never be certain what the day will bring. Our treks will continue unless there is heavy rain or strong winds.

Animal welfare comes above all else here at Elmet Alpacas. We have a rule that if it’s too hot to walk a dog, it’s too hot to walk alpacas. During summer months we schedule treks to start earlier in the day to avoid the hottest temperatures.

If you are unsure of your trek going ahead for any reason please call on the day of your trek.

Although we don’t have wheelchair access around the fields, we are working to improve our facilities for those who cannot take part in a trek. We have ramps, wheelchair accessible tearoom, outside decking/seating area, and a large washroom/toilet that is also wheelchair accessible.

Any visitor with additional needs can enjoy a trek or meet & greet experience if accompanied by a responsible adult. We have alpacas that seem to respond to individual needs, with one who lead visitors with sight impairments and another who is very attuned to anyone with dementia or autism.

Private visits can be arranged if required.

Well behaved dogs are permitted in the tearoom and in the outside seating/viewing area of the tearoom.

Dogs cannot accompany you on a Meet & Greet Experience or an Alpaca Trek.
